About the Activity

This online monograph with video excerpts taken from Minority Healthcare Communications' 2007 National Conference on Latinos and AIDS will offer healthcare providers current, pertinent, and practical information about culture-specific challenges faced by Latinos infected with HIV. When making effective treatment decisions, clinicians who serve Latino populations must consider the changing epidemiology of HIV in Latino populations, the differences between Latino men and women in their attitudes toward and perceptions of HIV, and the impact of comorbid conditions frequently encountered in Latino populations.

Learning Objectives

After completion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to

  • describe the changing epidemiology of HIV in Latino populations

  • consider gender-specific risks associated with HIV prevention, transmission, and progression in Latino populations

  • explain the relationships between comorbid conditions and HIV acquisition, transmission, and progression
